The Department of Dermatology of the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center held its postgraduate course on 16 April 2010 at the Diamond Hotel, Manila. Drs. Ma. Victoria Dizon, Vesna Castillo-Yaptinchay and Adolfo Bormate, Jr. lectured on the basic topics of common childhood and adult hair diseases and tools in diagnosing alopecia. Drs. Gertrude Chan, Juan Sanchez, Julieta Peralta-Arambulo, Mary Jo Kristine Bunagan, Jonathan Dizon, and Rhesa May Manoloto-Martinez shared their experiences on procedures involving hair, such as hair transplantation and laser hair removal. Innovative topics consisted of garlic gel for the treatment of alopecia areata by Dr. Alma Felicia Atilano-Bautista, the truth on prostaglandin analogues for eyelash growth by Dr. Lee Versoza, and stem cell cytokines for androgenetic alopecia by Dr. Lillian Lopez-Villafuerte. After an eventful day of learning, 237 participants went home with more than just shopping bags and full stomachs.
