Residents Uphold Excellence in Research
Residents from the PDS institutions displayed remarkable scientific papers during the 19th Annual Research Forum held on November 9 2011 at Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila. The event was made possible by the dynamic Research Committee headed by Dr Rowena Genuino, with Dr Mia C Verzosa as oral presentation coordinator, and Dr Guia Avecilla as poster exhibit coordinator.
The oral presentation was divided into 2 categories: experimental and non-experimental. The experimental category was judged by Drs Teresa Tolosa (chair), Valerie Guinto, and Nemencio Nicodemus Jr., with Dr. April Torres as facilitator. The top 5 papers, which were all herbal trials, were presented; the top 3 winners were announced as follows:
1st Place: A randomized, double-blind, controlled study on the safety and efficacy of 2.5% Moringa oleifera Lam(Moringaceae) leaf extract ointment versus 2% mupirocin ointment on superficial pyodermas caused by Staphylococcus aureus

The Poster Exhibit featured case reports from all 11 institutions. The display was held on the same venue for 2 days to coincide with the PDS National conference. The judges for this category were Drs Faith Kishi Generao (Chair), Aenelle Dizon, and Raul Ojeda. The top 3 winners were as follows:

The last Research Forum once again showed the curiosity, resourcefulness, and creativity of PDS residents.
