The International Society of Dermatology (ISD) recently held its Regional Meeting from February 2-5, 2017 at the Hotel Kompas in Dubrovnik, Croatia with the theme “Many Faces of Dermatology – Clinical, Surgical, and Aesthetical.” Lecturers from Asia, Europe, and the USA shared their expertise on a variety of topics, such as medical dermatology, lasers, hair and nail diseases, pigment disorders, infectious dermatology, and various therapeutics. Among these lecturers were Dr. Evangeline Handog, ISD President, who gave a lecture on “Difficult Melasma: Hype or Hope?” and Dr. Johannes Flores Dayrit who gave a lecture entitled, “What’s New with Pigment Lasers?”
Oral presentations were given by the following residents from the UP-Philippine General Hospital, respectively: Jolene Kristine Gatmaitan on “Harlequin ichthyosis in a Filipino newborn: management pearls in a resource-limited setting,” Joyce Anne Tan on “Systemic lupus erythematosus with coexistent psoriasis vulgaris: a case report,” and Francesca Mari Sumilang on “Epidermolysis bullosa simplex with decreased integrin and absent plectin on immunofluorescence antigen mapping in a two-year-old Filipino male.” The presenters received grants to attend the Regional Meeting from the Organizing Committee.
