PDS SOUTHERN LUZON CHAPTER kicks off 2017 LEAP activities
by Dr. Gina Santiago Eubanas, DCE

Attendees of the April 2017 LEAP

The brainchild of our president, Dr. Maria Angela Lavadia, the PDS Life Enhancement Action Program (LEAP), kicked off this April 21st with the Southern Luzon Chapter (SLC) spearheading the activity at Seda Hotel in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa. It was clearly the most attended activity by the SLC with 83 attendees from the various provinces of the region. Along with Drs. Blossom Chan and Julie Pabico, who delivered the introductory lecture and atopic dermatitis update respectively, were Drs. Jasmin Jamora and Arnold Yu.

The focus of this year’s LEAP activity was on the practical approaches to autoimmune blistering diseases, delivered by two of our experts in the field, namely Drs. Melanie Doria-Ruiz and Joni Dazo-Dizon, of the Immunodermatology Subspecialty group. It was capped off by a very engaging discussion on Work-Life balance by Ms. Perlita Ramos, the topic catching some of us off-guard with its “hugot” life wheel.

Despite the hunger pangs, the crowd remained in their seats when the Town Hall meeting started and Dr. Lavadia gave a briefer on the new PRC-initiated CPD law. The succeeding queries were endless so to speak and Dr. Lavadia promised to elaborate more in the coming mini-LEAP activities. The members actively raised other concerns and clarifications such as regional membership, chapter representations during board meetings and the MMDA coding exemptions, which the board members answered satisfactorily to the delight of the members.

Dr. Michellende Gatchalian, SLC President, was very grateful and proud of the ever-increasing number of members participating in the activities. She announced the initial plans for next year’s mid year convention that chapter will organize. It is her hope that the people who actively came to participate in this activity will once again show their support for the coming 5th mid year conference to be held in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa in 2018.
