The Sun Shines for PDS NORTH
by Dr. Ma. Aurora H. Rosario, FPDS (PDS NLC Secretary)

There were rains. There were floods. There were landslides.  But on September 1, the sun shone brightly on the City of Pines and greeted the members of the North Luzon Chapter and their guests welcoming them with the cool pine scented air that is distinctively Baguio. It was Baguio City Day and our local members participated in a medical mission held a day before.

Our dear president Dr. Liza Marie Paz-Tan organized a whole day of lectures combined with workshops entitled “ Revisiting Our Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Armamaentarium”, conducted by a powerhouse cast of formidable internationally recognized speakers.

First on op of the list was a series of lectures on Chemical Peeling/Mesotherapy. Dr. Angela Cumagun enlightened us on “Choosing the Correcr Chemical Peel and Role of Priming the Skin”. Dr.Lucia Castro-Fores talked on “the Different Chemical Peels and their Mechanism of Action”. Dr.Rosalina Nadela discussed Chemical Peeling for Hyperpigmentation. Dr. Marie Socouer Oblepias gave a generous amount of knowledge about the use of superficial peels on her favourite topic – Acne management. Dr.Claudia Samonte showed us the evolving trends on mesotherapy for facial rejuvenation. We were truly in awe with their mastery and expertise. Mind you, they are members of the Peeling Society.

After a sumptuous lunch, we listened attentively to Dr. Johannes Dayrit as he updated us on Dermoscopy as part of our armamentarium in our clinics, showing us interesting cases about Entodermoscopy and Inflammoscopy.

This was followed by the LEAP session. Dr. Rosalina Nadela returned with a talk on avoiding the pits on acne. Dr. Blossom Chan expounded on the therapeutic modalities in the management of scars. Now we are armed with winning solutions in the Scar Wars. Dr. Jasmin Jamora edified us on a very significant topic on Intergenerational Communication, truly life enhancing.

Our PDS BOARD director Dr.Arnold Yu was on board as always supporting our chapter with his presence and inspiring messages.

After the LEAP, another series of lectures on Anti-aging and Aesthetics. Dr. Ma. Teresita Gabriel entertainingly talked on “Turning Back the Hands of Time” truly reflecting the topic. Dr. Irene Gail Robredo-Vitas exhaustively expounded on Chemical peeling and Lasers on Filipino Skin.  Dr. Beverly Ang-Amoranto marvelously demonstrated how to achieve facial rejuvenation using a resilent hyaluronic acid dermal filler. As usual, we did volunteer work ( because we volunteered as patients.}

During dinner, our very own Dr. Faith Kishi-Generao gave a lecture on going for long term contro in Atopic Dermatitis with Tacrolimus {Protopic}.

To cap the day, we held our chapter meeting and election of the new set of officers.  Congratulations to the new officers! (to be revealed soon)

It was a very long day but worth every minute of it!
