Philippine Dermatological Society Contact Dermatitis and Environmental Dermatology CME Webcast “Contact Dermatitis and Environmental Dermatology: Zooming into 2021”

Last January 27, 2021, the Philippine Dermatological Society Contact Dermatitis and Environmental Dermatology (PDS CDED) Group hosted the first continuing medical education webcast for the year 2021 entitled “Contact Dermatitis and Environmental Dermatology: Zooming into 2021.”
The program started with an inspiring opening remarks by our newly elected PDS President, Dr. Francisco D. Rivera IV. The webcast was moderated by Dr. Elaine Marie Gutierrez-Villaroman.
Our very first CME for the year 2021 was graced by a very well respected dermatologist in the field of contact dermatitis, occupational dermatology and patch testing, Associate Professor Rosemary L. Nixon, AM from Melbourne, Australia. She is the founder of the Occupational Dermatology Research & Education Center and currently the president of the Skin Health Institute (formerly Skin & Cancer Foundation in Victoria). Our guest speaker was introduced by Dr. Lillian Lopez-Villafuerte. Associate Professor Nixon’s lecture entitled “What have I learnt about patch testing?” discussed updates on contact dermatitis, environmental dermatology, patch testing and adapting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Lonabel A. Encarnacion, chair of the PDS Contact Dermatitis & Environmental Dermatology Group, presented the direction and plans of the PDS CDED group for 2021-2022.
The second part of the program continued with the celebration and welcoming of the first-year residents from the different PDS institutions lead by the secretary of the PDS and a member of the PDS CDED group, Dr. Roberto Antonio B. Pascual.
The program was concluded with the closing remarks from the vice president of the PDS and a member of the PDS CDED group , Dr. Noemie Salta-Ramos.
Overall this was a very successful CME attended by 778 participants.
By and large, the event marks as a great start for the PDS in 2021!
