The Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center Department of Dermatology held its Postgraduate Course entitled, “K-Pop Derm: Optimizing Present Practices in the Art of Dermatology” last September 27, 2018 at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila. This event focused on the latest trends of Korean and Asian Aesthetic Dermatology that are applicable to Philippine Dermatologic practice.

PDS President Dr. Ma. Angela Lavadia and PDS Board member Dr. Francisco Rivera, together with Drs. Luisa Puyat, Martha Tapales and Alma Gay Concepcion Tavanlar Amado attended the PHIC Forum that was initiated by the PMA. As PHIC’s envoy, Dr. Shirley B. Domingo, Vice President of Corporate affairs group of PHIC, discussed updates and answered several queries of the different specialty societies.

More than diseases of the skin, dermatologists are also adept in managing cases of the mucous membranes. Corollary to this, the PDS Sexually Transmitted Diseases Subspecialty Core Group in cooperation with the Department of Dermatology of the JRRMMC presented the monthly continuing medical education (CME) entitled “Mucosal Mimics and Maladies: a Dermatologist’s Approach to Pathologies of the Oral Cavity”.

The East Avenue Medical Center Department of Dermatology has held it’s fifth postgraduate course entitled, “Tabula Rasa: Evaluation, Aesthetics, Medical and Careers in Dermatology, last August 3, 2018. It was befitting that the theme was chosen as we went back to the basics and evaluated what has been and what was more to come in the field of dermatology.
